Care for your Jewelry
Luna Soeur jewelry is made to be worn, loved, and lived with — but like all fine pieces, it benefits from thoughtful care.
Proper handling and maintenance will help preserve the beauty, structure, and integrity of your jewelry for years to come.
Everyday Wear
While Luna Soeur jewelry is made for real life, certain habits will significantly extend its lifespan.
We recommend removing your jewelry before:
Showering, bathing, or swimming
Sleeping
Exercising or engaging in physical labor
Applying lotions, perfumes, oils, or hair products
Cleaning with household chemicals
Moisture, friction, and chemicals can dull finishes, weaken settings, and cause unnecessary wear over time.
Metals & Finishes
Luna Soeur pieces may be crafted in solid gold, sterling silver, or other fine metals. Each material responds differently to time and environment.
Sterling Silver
Naturally oxidizes over time, especially when exposed to air or humidity
Tarnish is normal and can be gently polished away
Store silver pieces in airtight bags or soft cloth pouches when not in use
Gold (14k or higher)
More resistant to tarnish, but still susceptible to scratches and wear
Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals or abrasive surfaces
Please note: surface wear is a natural part of owning fine jewelry and does not indicate a defect.
Stones & Settings
Many Luna Soeur designs incorporate gemstones or delicate structural elements.
Avoid impact or pressure, especially on rings and bracelets
Do not wear stone-set jewelry during heavy activity
Periodically inspect prongs and settings for looseness
If you ever notice a stone shifting, snagging, or feeling unstable, discontinue wear and contact us immediately.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
For everyday maintenance, we recommend using the polishing cloth included with your order. Gently wiping your jewelry after wearing helps remove oils, moisture, and light tarnish while preserving the finish.
For occasional deeper cleaning:
Use lukewarm water with a mild, non-abrasive soap
Gently clean with a soft brush (such as a baby toothbrush)
Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth
Please avoid:
Ultrasonic cleaners
Steam cleaners
Abrasive polishes or chemical dips
These methods can damage finishes, loosen stones, and compromise delicate details.
Storage
Proper storage is essential.
Store jewelry separately to prevent scratching
Keep pieces dry and away from direct sunlight
Use soft pouches, lined boxes, or individual compartments
If traveling, wrap each piece individually to avoid friction or impact.
Resizing, Repairs & Maintenance
Over time, even well-cared-for jewelry may require professional attention.
Luna Soeur offers resizing and repair services for many pieces. We strongly recommend having work done by us or a trusted professional familiar with fine jewelry to ensure the original design and integrity are preserved.
Please contact hello@lunasoeur.com before sending any piece for evaluation, resizing, or repair.
What Is Considered Normal Wear
The following are considered normal and are not defects:
Light scratches or patina from wear
Natural tarnishing of silver
Slight softening of edges over time
These changes reflect a piece that has been worn and loved.
When in Doubt, Ask
If you are ever unsure how to care for a specific piece — or whether an activity is safe while wearing it — we encourage you to err on the side of caution and reach out.
We are always happy to guide you in caring for your jewelry.
