Custom Design Consultation

This consultation is the first step in commissioning a custom piece from Luna Soeur.  It’s designed for clients who want to create something thoughtful and well-considered, and who value a guided, intentional design process.

This stage is about finding the right direction before any creation begins.

The Custom Design Consultation covers:

• Review of your existing piece or idea
• Discussion of goals, materials, and practical considerations
• Development of initial design concepts and sketches
• Guidance toward final direction suitable for making

The consultation includes up to three initial design directions and up to two rounds of refinement on the selected concept. If further exploration is needed beyond this scope, additional design work may be quoted separately.

How the process works

1. Purchase the Custom Design Consultation
2. You’ll receive an email with a few questions and a request for photos or reference material
3. I develop initial design concepts and sketches for you to review
4. Once a direction is chosen, I provide a final quote for the project
5. If you approve the design and quote, we move into the making phase

No fabrication begins until a final design and quote are approved.

Pricing & expectations

Custom projects at Luna Soeur currently begin in the $600–$800 range, depending on materials and complexity, and can go higher for more involved work.

The design consultation ensures we’re aligned on scope and direction before any manufacturing begins.

Design consultation fee

• The design consultation fee is $200
• This fee is non-refundable
• If you choose to move forward with the project after the design phase, this fee is applied to the final cost of your piece
• If you decide not to proceed after the design phase, the fee covers the time and work already invested in developing your concept

A note on fit and scope

On very rare occasion, during the design process, it may become clear that a project is not the right fit—whether due to scope, feasibility, or alignment of vision.  In that case, we’ll pause the process at the design stage, and no fabrication will move forward.  The consultation fee still applies to the design work completed up to that point.

This helps ensure that any piece we bring into being is something both of us feel confident about.
