Commissions
Some pieces begin with a story — an heirloom…a memory or a moment that seeks to be remembered with particular care.
Luna Soeur accepts a limited number of commissioned projects each year, centered on thoughtful, well-considered work. Many of these begin with the transformation of existing pieces, while others take shape as entirely new creations, guided by meaning, form, and materials.
Custom work here is not about haste or trend. It is about attention, proportion, and intention, carefully carried from budding idea to final object.
A Considered Process
We begin with a conversation.
If you’re interested in a custom piece, the best place to begin is reaching out with a brief description of your project, your budget, and any relevant reference images. This allows me to understand what you’re hoping to create and to let you know whether it’s something I’m able to create for you.
If the project is a good fit, you’ll be invited to begin a design consultation. Once a clear direction is chosen, I will be able to solidify a final quote. Fabrication begins only after the quote is approved.
When you are ready, you can reach out via my contact page or send a message directly to my email below.
Design Consultation
The design consultation is a dedicated, paid design phase focused on concept development and direction. We explore form, materials, and structure via email, shaping the design and arriving at a clear, buildable plan before any making begins.
The consultation fee is $200. If you choose to move forward with the project, this fee is applied to the final cost of your piece. If you don’t proceed, the fee simply covers the design work completed during this phase.
Custom projects at Luna Soeur currently begin in the $600–$800 range, depending on materials and complexity, and may extend beyond that for more involved work or higher-value materials.
Design concepts and drawings created during the consultation remain the intellectual property of Luna Soeur and may not be reproduced, fabricated, or taken to another maker for production.
To begin the design phase, you may purchase the Custom Design Consultation.
On Client Provided metals
When a project begins with an existing piece, I’m always happy to explore how its stones, metals or elements might be carried forward into the new design. However, I don’t always reuse client-provided metal — especially white gold — as unknown alloys, plating, solder, and prior processing can compromise long-term strength and durability. For the integrity of the finished piece, commissioned work is typically fabricated in newly milled metal if the purity of the existing metal cannot be determined. If your original piece does contain precious metal that cannot be reused, it will be returned to you, and I’m glad to point you toward reputable options for having it refined or recycled separately, if you wish.
On Fit and Scope
Commissioned work is a collaborative process, and the design phase exists to make sure the piece we’re shaping is both feasible and aligned with what you’re hoping for.
In rare cases, the design process may reveal that a project isn’t the right fit — whether due to structural limitations, material constraints, or a divergence in direction. If that happens, the process pauses at the design stage, before any fabrication begins.
The design consultation covers the work completed up to that point.
